In making boots, Timberland face many challenges, like balancing durable versus lightweight materials, waterproof versus breathable constructions, functional versus stylish silhouettes. Timberland have to weigh these trade-offs to ensure they're delivering the best product with the least environmental impact. Bootmaking uses energy, chemicals and resources – all of which contribute to pollution. Timberland won't stop from pushing the boundaries of boot building until high quality, low impact products are commonplace.

Timberland Earthkeepers Features

1. 80% of the materials on the boot can be recycled or reused at the end of the boot’s first life.
2. The detachable upper and chassis is full-grain leather from a Leather Working Group (LWG) Silver-rated tannery.
3. The detachable and recyclable Green Rubber™ outsole made from 42% recycled tire crumb can go back to a Green Rubber™ factory for recycling.
4. Polyester components can be recycled into new polyester products by the Teijin company of Japan.
5. Removable metal hardware can be reused in new footwear or recycled.
